Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) are both types of psychotherapy, or talk therapy, that are evidence-based. CBT helps people understand how their thoughts affect their emotions and behaviors, while DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and behaviors, and learn to change them.
Culturally sensitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes the therapist's understanding of a client's background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or other important elements that make up someone's culture and/or identity.
